Range Patrol is the Department of Defense Police attached to the 96th Security Forces Squadron at Eglin AFB, Florida. The unit is an extremely diversed group and include civil service civilians, retired military personnel, former civilian police and corrections officers, former AF flyers, computer programmers, and medical personnel. Capable of handling virtually any police, security or force protection situation, the unit provides 24 hour police services to the Eglin AFB community, resource protection for the Eglin reservation and assist five local civilian police agencies. The unit's area of responsible covers over 720 square miles that spans three counties. Range Patrol jurisdiction varies depending on the specific area, but can be exclusive, concurrent, or proprietary. They are responsible for the enforcement of all local, state and federal laws as well as ourdoor recreation, hunting and fresh water fishing rules and regulations on the Eglin AFB Reservation. This elite police agengy is credited with countless successful missions from protection of our nations highest dignitaries and resources, marijuana eradication to reuniting a lost ourdoorsman with their family in the wee hours of the morning.
